The Career Path outlines the expectations for each role at Factorial.
Each person is unique, but we have created some guidelines to help guide growth conversations. Use them as a tool, not a framework.
This document also contains the compensation bands for each position, ensuring that any changes to compensation are applied equitably across the organization.
We have updated our Career Path to reflect the AI transformation Factorial is going through. Our skills and rubrics now embed AI at the core of how we work — not as a tool we use occasionally, but as the default way we build, solve problems, and grow as engineers.
This update mirrors Factorial's strategy to become an AI leader: every role — from Junior to Distinguished, from Engineering Manager to VP — now defines what AI-first execution looks like at that level of impact. Expectations have evolved around concepts that are central to how we build today: spec-driven development, multi-agent orchestrators, Team Agents, agent governance and cost control, performance AIL, and the paradigm of companies of agents.
The fundamentals remain: craftsmanship, ownership, candor, and impact. What changes is the blast radius — at every tier, we expect engineers and managers to amplify their output through AI, and we measure growth by how much more they enable, not only by what they personally deliver.
Use this document to understand where you are, where you want to go, and what AI-driven leverage looks like at the next level.
